who is Shannon the artist?

Shannon Dorsey, DC Native, is an award winning, full time actor/dancer local New York City.

Shannon's training and professional experience stretches wide within theatrical performance forms; from acting to puppetry; dance to intimacy work and more. She has dedicated her career to further expanding and challenging theatrical forms as we know it, while dismantling oppression and white supremacy in the theater, and, ultimately, the world.

Shannon is a Woolly Mammoth Company Member, has an award and several nominations for the prestigious Helen Hayes Award, and received the elusive TCG Fox Foundation Resident Actor Fellowship. She has a long resume, performing on many professional DC stages and in almost all 50 states. Some of Shannon's studies include: Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Jones Haywood School of Dance and Rosella Hightower School of Danse in Cannes, France. She graduated Temple University with Dual Degrees in Theater and African American Studies.

Shannon's purpose is to use her art to transform, heal and find new horizons within healthy boundaries. From there, she must use her art to help others do the same.
